Book Bound
As a photographer for the American Antiquarian Society, I am often asked to document books that will most likely return to their place in “the stacks”, and never see the light of day again. I found myself studying the covers and bindings of these rare books, as they often appear to resemble aerial landscape photographs. “Book Bound” will showcase the unique details of forgotten books with macro photography and oversized printed images.
Visually “Book Bound” is a series that toys with perspective, landscape, and artistry. By magnifying small details on timeworn book covers into large scale photographs, I am able to skew the image, leading viewers to perceive them as antique maps, desert landscapes or distant planets. This project has been three years in the making, and I am excited for the opportunity to share my work.
